Vanderbilt became the sixth team ever to sweep the SEC's top individual awards in a single season. The Commodores (27-3) set school records for regular-season and conference wins, finishing tied for second in the SEC and earning the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
Blakes led the nation in scoring with 27.1 points per game and became the first player since 2000 to average more than 30 points in SEC games. Despite returning only one starter, Vanderbilt is projected as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Both Blakes and Galvan credited their teammates for their awards, with Blakes stating, "It's not just an individual award. It goes to the whole team as well."
