Especially since the Las Vegas Raiders are expected to use the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft on Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, the Raiders should be looking to add a right tackle during free agency this offseason. Also, the offense needs to give last year’s first-round selection, running back Ashton Jeanty, more support, enhancing the need for a veteran to play on the right edge.
So, using Pro Football Focus’, The Athletic’s and NFL.com’s free agent rankings, who are Las Vegas’ top options at right tackle?
Jermaine Eluemunor
PFF ranking: 40 overall (OT2)
The Athletic: 16 (OT2)
NFL.com: 23 (OT2)
Eluemunor has already had one stint with the Raiders, from 2021 to 2023, and revived his career in 2022 by permanently moving to right tackle and working with then-offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo. The organization let Eluemunor walk two years later, and he followed Bricillo to the New York Giants, where he continued to excel in pass protection. The 31-year-old has given up fewer than 30 pressures over the last four seasons, per PFF, including just 19 this past fall. That should put him in contention for a second stint in Vegas.
Braden Smith
PFF ranking: 106 (OT5)
The Athletic: 19 (OT3)
NFL.com: 45 (OT3)
There’s a wide variety of where Smith falls in the pecking order of free agents as a whole, but he’s clearly one of the best tackles available this offseason, especially on the right side of the line. The eight-year veteran hasn’t surrendered more than 30 pressures since his second year in the league, including just 26 in 2025. However, his PFF run-blocking grade took a significant dip last season, going from 74.6 to 58.0 over the last two years. Also, the 29-year-old who turns 30 next month has battled injuries throughout his career, participating in a full slate of games just once in eight seasons.
Jonah Williams
PFF ranking: 151 (OT9)
The Athletic: 94 (OT6)
NFL.com: NR
Along similar lines, Williams signed a two-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals during free agency a couple of offseasons ago and struggled to stay on the field, missing 19 out of a possible 34 games during that timeframe. But the former first-round pick can be a quality pass-protector when on the field, yielding just seven pressures over six games in 2024.
Fred Johnson
PFF ranking: 295 (OT21)
The Athletic: 69 (OT5)
NFL.com: NR
A career-long swing tackle, Fred Johnson might have done enough filling in for Lane Johnson this past season to get a chance to become a starting right tackle moving forward. Including playoffs, the seven-year pro took 592 snaps over 12 games on the right edge and only surrendered 17 pressures on 314 opportunities. The 28-year-old (turns 29 in June) does need some work as a run-blocker, though, recording below-average PFF grades in that department over the last two seasons.
Trent Brown
PFF ranking: 129 (OT6)
The Athletic: 114 (OT10)
NFL.com: NR
Another former Raider makes this list, and the organization may need to mend some fences if it has any interest in bringing Brown back since his first stint didn’t end on good terms. Also, the 2019 Pro Bowler isn’t the player he used to be, beginning last season on the Houston Texans’ practice squad. However, he ended up participating in eight games (including playoffs) and playing well for the Texans, surrendering just 12 pressures and earning a 71.5 PFF run-blocking grade. The soon-to-be 33-year-old wouldn’t be a long-term solution in Las Vegas but could at least help the team get by for another year.
