Walton Takes Stake in Diamondbacks

Rob Walton, the richest owner in major US sports, quietly purchased a 10% stake in the Arizona Diamondbacks at a $2 billion franchise valuation in 2024.

Walton, who is worth nearly $146 billion as a son of Walmart founder Sam Walton, acquired the minority stake as a limited partner with no decision-making responsibilities. The Denver Broncos owner's investment is primarily funding renovations to Chase Field, with the team having previously committed $250 million toward ballpark improvements.
