VAR Review and 'Vinicius Law' Planned

Football's lawmaking authority Ifab will review VAR technology and implement new rules before the World Cup finals, including expanded video checks for corners and second yellow cards.

Football's rulemaking body Ifab announced a two-year review of the video assistant referee (VAR) system to ensure it's being used optimally. The decision comes alongside several rule enhancements for the upcoming World Cup, including extending VAR to determine corner kicks and second yellow cards.

The Ifab is also considering fast-tracking implementation of punishments for players obscuring their mouths during matches, following allegations of racist abuse against Vinícius Júnior. The proposal, dubbed the 'Vinicius Law,' would address incidents like the one involving Benfica's Gianluca Prestianni.
