India directive for cricket council name

The Union sports ministry has ordered the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) to remove 'India' or 'Indian' from its name, as it is not recognized as a National Sports Federation.

The Union sports ministry has directed the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) to cease using the words 'India' or 'Indian' in its name and activities, stating only government-recognized federations are permitted to use these terms. Similar notices have been sent to other sports bodies including the Women's Football Federation of India.

DCCI secretary Ravi Kant Chauhan confirmed receiving the letter and requested NSF status, highlighting that the body has organized World Cups, Asia Cups, and national tournaments. With the National Sports Governance Act now in effect, all sports bodies must seek recognition from the National Sports Board, which is yet to be established.
