Ehlers Hat Trick Lifts Hurricanes Over Canucks

Nikolaj Ehlers sealed his hat trick with an empty-net goal as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vancouver Canucks 6-4 on Wednesday, extending Vancouver's losing streak to seven games.

The Hurricanes (39-16-6) received goals from Sean Walker, Andrei Svechnikov and Sebastian Aho in addition to Ehlers' three tallies. Brandon Bussi stopped 18 of 22 shots for Carolina. The Canucks (18-36-7) got goals from Filip Hronek, Marco Rossi, Brock Boeser and Nils Hoglander, with Elias Pettersson recording two assists.

Vancouver's losing streak now stands at seven games (0-5-2), with the team managing just two wins in their last 23 outings (2-17-4). Kevin Lankinen started in goal but was replaced by Nikita Tolopilo after allowing four goals on 22 shots.
