The 20-year-old British sprinter Matthew Brennan claimed victory in the Flemish classic Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne for team Visma-Lease-a-bike on Sunday. He rocketed out of an accelerating pack to win, displaying sprint prowess reminiscent of Mark Cavendish.
Brennan, from Darlington, is the first Briton to win the race since Cavendish achieved the feat in 2012 and 2015. Despite similarities to Cavendish's finishing style, Brennan avoided direct comparisons to the cycling legend after his triumph.
