Rockets predicted to add veteran free agent for playoff push

The Houston Rockets have had a fine season, but they are clearly feeling the effects of not having a true point guard in the rotation.

Knicks End Spurs' 11-Game Streak with 114-89 Win

Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, as New York defeated the San Antonio Spurs 114-89 at Madison Square Garden. The win snapped the Spurs' 11‑game NBA winning streak, their longest since a 13‑0 run in 2015‑16. Despite Victor Wembanyama's 25 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks, the Spurs struggled from beyond the arc, hitting only 9 of 34 three‑point attempts and committing 22 turnovers.

The victory keeps the Knicks firmly in playoff contention while the Spurs fall further behind in the Western Conference race. Coach Mike Brown praised the team's defensive effort, noting the Spurs' low shooting percentage from deep and the Knicks' ability to capitalize on turnovers.

NFL combine results: How OU football draft prospects fared

Ten former OU football players participated in the NFL scouting combine this weekend.

Wide receiver Deion Burks, tight end Jaren Kanak, offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu, defensive linemen Gracen Halton, Marvin Jones Jr., R Mason Thomas and Damonic Williams, as well as linebackers Kendal Daniels and Owen Heinecke and safety Robert Spears-Jennings showcased their talent in Indianapolis with hopes of improving their stock for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Here are the NFL combine results for OU's former players:

Deion Burks, wide receiver

  • 40-yard dash: 4.3 seconds
  • 10-yard split: 1.49 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 42.5 inches
  • Broad jump: 10 feet, 11 inches
  • Bench press: 26 reps

Burks was poised to impress scouts this weekend. Despite only catching 57 passes for 620 yards and four touchdowns this past season, Burks is extremely strong and explosive. Burks' 40 time ranked third among receivers.

Jaren Kanak, tight end

  • 40-yard dash: 4.52 seconds
  • 10-yard split: 1.61 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 36 inches
  • Broad jump: 9 feet, 11 inches
  • Bench press: 24 reps

Kanak’s 40 ranked fourth among tight ends and his 36-inch vertical ranked eighth. The speedy ex-linebacker caught 44 passes for 533 yards in 2025.

Febechi Nwaiwu, offensive lineman

  • Vertical jump: 24 1/2 inches
  • Broad jump: 8 feet, 9 inches
  • 3-cone drill: 7.8 seconds
  • 20-yard shuttle: 4.73 seconds

Gracen Halton, defensive lineman

  • 10-yard split: 1.7 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 36.5 inches
  • Broad jump: 9 feet, 6 inches
  • 3-cone drill: 8.09 seconds
  • 20-yard shuttle: 4.79 seconds

Halton’s 36.5-inch vertical jump ranked first among defensive lineman this weekend and is the third highest mark in combine history by a defensive tackle. The 293-pound lineman, who recorded seven tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and a team-high seven quarterback hurries this past season, stole the show Thursday in Indy.

Marvin Jones Jr., defensive lineman

  • 40-yard dash: 4.69 seconds
  • 10-yard split: 1.65 seconds

R Mason Thomas, defensive lineman

  • 40-yard dash: 4.67 seconds
  • 10-yard split: 1.63 seconds

Thomas was projected to be selected No. 31 overall in the first round of the NFL Draft by the New England Patriots in ESPN expert Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest mock draft heading into the combine.

Damonic Williams, defensive lineman

  • Bench press: 30 reps

Kendal Daniels, linebacker

Daniels did not participate in drills.

Owen Heinecke, linebacker

  • 40-yard dash: 4.62 seconds
  • 10-yard split: 1.62 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 34.5 inches
  • Broad jump: 9 feet, 11 inches
  • 3-cone drill: 7.15 seconds

The NCAA officially denied Heinecke's appeal for another year of eligibility on Tuesday. Heinecke could still choose to file a lawsuit, but it’s unclear if he plans to go that route at this time.

Robert Spears-Jennings, safety

  • 40-yard dash: 4.82 seconds
  • 10-yard split: 1.51 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 35 inches
  • Broad jump: 10 feet,5 inches

Spears-Jennings’ 40 ranked second among safeties this weekend.

Champions Again: WVU hockey captures its first CHMA championship since 2014 behind a statement weekend at Hope Gas Ice Pavilion

Mar. 1---- Copy Link — Facebook — LinkedIn — Share on X MORGANTOWN—West Virginia University's club Division I hockey team completed a historic weekend, capturing the CHMA championship for the first time since 2014, after Friday night's 7-3 comeback victory over Robert Morris, at the newly opened Hope Gas Ice Pavilion inside Mylan Park.

A packed crowd of students and community members filled the 1, 200-seat arena, creating a postseason atmosphere that carried through the weekend.

These photos capture the defining moments of that momentum shift—hard edge work across the full NHL-size surface, physical battles in tight space, and the eruption along the Mountaineers bench as the comeback took shape. The energy inside the Pavilion reflected more than a single victory ; it marked the resurgence of a program that has now returned to the top of the conference for the first time in over a decade.

WVU Hockey has punched their tickets to nationals in St. Louis next month.
