Adam Fox stands by comments regarding Rangers future

The last time Adam Fox spoke, he created a ton of uncertainty around his Rangers future.

Fox didn’t exactly commit to sticking in the Big Apple through another retool -- saying that he is simply focused on this season right now, and it’s a “conversation for when we’re done playing.”

While it doesn’t seem like much, the NY-native seemingly said more with what he didn’t say.

Asked if he wanted to add to those comments following Monday's loss to the Blue Jackets, Fox said “kind of the same.”

“We’re just trying to focus on games, myself included,” he said. “There’s a lot going on with the deadline and everything, but I think all anyone can do right now is take it day-by-day, try to bring a good effort and good attitude and take it from there.”

According to Vince Mercogliano of the Athletic, Fox has met with Chris Drury several times in recent weeks, and he wants to see how the GM handles things over the next few months before making a decision to stick around.

Mercogliano notes that that doesn’t necessarily mean the All-Star blueliner isn’t willing to wait out the retooling period, but he wants evidence that the front office will turn things around.

Fox has a full no-trade clause through next season, then it turns to 16-team list for the final two years of his contract.
