Real Madrid have been unrelenting in their battle against FC Barcelona in the Negreira scandal in recent months.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez publicly called out the Blaugrana, while the club’s lawyers questioned Joan Laporta during his testimony.
Furthermore, the Merengues also requested audit reports and other financial documents from the period in which Barça had made the payments to Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira – a request that was shot down by the investigating judge.
Real Madrid believe UEFA will hand out sanctions Barcelona
Now, according to journalist Ramon Alvarez, Real Madrid believe that there will be sanctions handed out to Barcelona by UEFA very soon in the Negreira case investigations.
UEFA has suspended disciplinary proceedings in the Barça-Negreira case, but Real Madrid are confident that they will resume soon, which could result in punishment for their arch-rivals.

The journalist highlights that a court ruling is not needed for the Catalans to be sanctioned, and that their acknowledgement of the payments in itself will be very significant.
UEFA can punish Barcelona by banning the registration of players and excluding them from participating in UEFA competitions for a period ranging from one to ten years, depending on the severity of the violation.
It must, however, be noted that Barcelona have strengthened their relations with UEFA as well as the EFC in recent months, which played an important role in them abandoning the Super League project, with Real Madrid also eventually withdrawing from it.
For now, there is nothing concrete, but Real Madrid are reportedly confident that UEFA will reopen disciplinary proceedings against Barcelona and that it will end up with the Blaugrana getting major sanctions.
