Leveling up the Denver Broncos’ offense

We’re all proud of the Broncos and their last season. Sean Payton has to be as well.

But we’re now out of the gates and ramping up for free agency, and moves are already happening that signal that Payton is looking to get his offense to take a big step forward.

Davis Webb is going to be calling plays this season, which is quite impressive to me. That is Payton showing a boatload of trust in the young coach. I will note that one important aspect that isn’t going to change is going to be Payton’s involvement in the offensive game plan. None of us is privy to how his staff handles that, but I can assure you from the way he answers questions in press conferences that he’s very likely handling the majority of that still.

With Webb getting a promotion, the Broncos have Logan Kilgore stepping in at his old position as Quarterbacks Coach.

They have brought in Kyle Kempt as an Offensive Assistant and John Morton as the pass game coordinator.

I’m excited for a change in the offensive coaching ranks, as there seems to be quite a bit to be improved on that side of the ball. I don’t expect the offense to look completely different at all, but efficiencies with play calling, wide receiver drop rates, and run game efficiency should all be areas of focus this offseason for the Broncos.
