ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The Guilford Vikings have finished NIC-10 play where they’ve finished the previous three seasons, on top of the NIC-10. The Vikings clinched a co-championship with Auburn Wednesday night by winning at Rockford East 58-39.
Branden Chatman was at his best in this one. The Guilford senior guard scored the first two points of the game off of a steal. He went on to lead all scorers with 26 points while also dishing out some great passes and grabbing several rebounds.
Guilford was in the lead the entire game up by five after the first quarter. Up by 14 at halftime and leading by 20 after the third quarter. Chatman had 24 of his points through the first three quarters.
Guilford and Auburn both finish conference play with 16-2 conference records. This is the fourth straight season that Guilford has won the NIC-10 outright or shared the championship.
