Team India has recently struggled in their home Test assignments. Despite struggles, head coach Gautam Gambhir said that his team is ready with all the answers for the questions that have been thrown at them ahead of the series against Sri Lanka.
"We know what's in front of us, we know what we are playing for. We can do the volume, we can push our limits, we can tick all the boxes. Come 15th morning (August 15), whether we are batting first, whether we are bowling first, we're absolutely ready with every answer, every question that's thrown at us, and every answer we are ready to give. So make sure we tick all the boxes from now on," he said in a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Madhya Pradesh's cricketer Saransh Jain has received his maiden call-up to Team India. Additionally, the visitors will miss the services of their lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah, as he has sustained an injury. BCCI has named Auqib Nabi as his replacement for the series.
"We've got a couple of new guys in. To start with, Saransh, congratulations. You've worked extremely hard to be here. Make sure that you make your family and your country proud, whenever you get that opportunity," said the head coach.
"Secondly, I want to congratulate Auqib. You had a phenomenal last season, made J&K win the Ranji Trophy, which is a great achievement. Congratulations once again," he added.
Left-handed batsman Sai Sudharsan's feature will be subject to fitness. The series will also mark the return of veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was out of acting due to an injury.
