Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opener Mitchell Marsh hammered a stunning century to help his side post a formidable total of 209/3 in a rain-affected match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Lucknow on May 7.

After the game was reduced to 19 overs due to rain, Marsh scored his first century of the season in just 49 balls. Rain interrupted play after he reached his second IPL century. Once the match resumed, Marsh finished his innings with 111 runs off 56 balls. His knock was laced with nine fours and nine sixes at a strike rate of 198.21.

Marsh’s innings came at a crucial time for LSG as they fight to stay alive in the tournament. Before this match, Marsh had scored just 256 runs from nine matches. He took his tally to 367 runs at a strike rate of 152.91.

Apart from Marsh, Nicholas Pooran (38) and captain Rishabh Pant (32*) also contributed valuable runs as LSG crossed the 200-run mark.

With the ball, Josh Hazlewood, Krunal Pandya and Rasikh Salam picked up one wicket each, although they proved expensive.

Earlier this season, the two teams faced each other in Bengaluru on April 15, where RCB defeated LSG by five wickets. Lucknow are currently at the bottom of the points table with just two wins from nine matches.
