Tang Fired As Kansas State Coach

Kansas State has fired men's basketball coach Jerome Tang 'for cause' and will not honor his $18.7 million buyout after two seasons with the program.

The Wildcats are 10-15 (1-11 Big 12) this season and have only made the NCAA Tournament once under Tang in 2022, though they reached the Elite Eight in 2023. Athletic Director Gene Taylor cited public comments, conduct, and program direction as reasons for the firing.

Tang disagreed with the characterization of his termination, saying he 'always acted with integrity.' Illinois coach Brad Underwood has been mentioned as a potential replacement to lead the program.
