Daniel Munie scored two goals and Preston Judd added another in the first half, securing a 3-0 win for the San Jose Earthquakes over Sporting Kansas City. Munie and Judd connected just before halftime, with Judd scoring in stoppage time and Munie adding his second in the 54th minute.
San Jose dominated the match with 18 shots and 15 corner kicks. Sporting Kansas City, entering the 2026 season with a new head coach and general manager, struggled to create chances and finished last season with the fewest goals in the league.
