Former University High School state champion and current Syracuse athlete Zundell achieved the milestone on February 16, joining elite company in West Virginia running history. The performance came just weeks after he ran 4:03 at Cornell earlier in the season.
Former Syracuse coach Chris Fox, one of the other two West Virginians to break the four-minute barrier, was on hand to witness Zundell's achievement. "It was for our state, and for me to do it for the program he built, just really felt like a full-circle moment," Zundell said of the historic run.
