Australian sports presenter Danika Mason has apologized after drinking alcohol before a Channel Nine live Winter Olympics broadcast, where she slurred her words and went off-topic during the segment. Mason's co-host Karl Stefanovic attempted to cover for her, suggesting cold weather might have affected her speech.
"I want to take full responsibility, it's not the standard I set myself," Mason said in her apology. "So in saying that, I'm genuinely really sorry." Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his support for Mason, stating: "I'm pro Danika. Good on her. She's over in Italy... and she would have been tired. It's the time difference."
