Bodo/Glimt stun Inter Milan in Champions League shock

Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt eliminated Inter Milan 5-2 on aggregate in the Champions League, delivering the tournament’s biggest shock and a historic first for Norway.

Bodo/Glimt, Norway’s minnows and tournament debutants, stunned Inter Milan 5-2 on aggregate, the biggest shock in Champions League history. The 16‑hour‑drive‑north team, based in the Arctic‑circle town of Bodo, has already beaten Manchester City and Atletico Madrid, and is the first Norwegian side to reach a European semi‑final and to win a Champions League knockout tie since 1987‑88.

With a budget a fraction of Europe’s giants, Bodo/Glimt’s 9,000‑seat Aspmyra Stadion hosts a 55,000‑strong town. Their success marks the first time a club outside the big five leagues has won four consecutive games against England, Spain, Italy and France since 1971‑72.
