Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Mike Wagner, a key figure in the Steel Curtain dynasty and four‑time Super Bowl champion, died at 76.

Mike Wagner, drafted in the 11th round of the 1971 NFL Draft, became a starting safety for the Steelers and recorded 36 interceptions over ten seasons. He was instrumental in the team’s first two Super Bowl victories, intercepting Fran Tarkenton in SB IX and a Dallas Cowboys pass in SB X.

The Steelers released a statement mourning his passing, noting his toughness, consistency, and team‑first mentality. Wagner retired in 1981 and is remembered as a champion and proud member of the Steelers family.
