A grand jury in Fort Bend County, Texas, has decided not to indict former NBA guard Patrick Beverley on assault charges stemming from an incident with his sister last November. Beverley had been accused of grabbing his sister by the neck, slamming her against a wall and punching her after she sneaked out to see her boyfriend.
Beverley, who played 12 NBA seasons including with the Houston Rockets and most recently the Milwaukee Bucks, maintained his innocence throughout the process. His attorneys stated he 'would never do anything to harm his sister,' and following the grand jury's decision, Beverley expressed gratitude for prayers and emphasized the need to 'protect our children, especially our young girls.'
