Francona’s ‘Pixie Dust’ Could Propel Reds to Glory

Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona, nicknamed the 'pixie dust' of baseball, is in his second year at the helm and could climb the all‑time wins list this season.

Francona, who has 2,033 career wins and 12 playoff appearances, is in his second season with the Reds. The former Boston Red Sox skipper was recently mentioned at the Athletics Hall of Fame induction in Sacramento, where ESPN’s Jeff Passan dubbed his leadership the 'pixie dust' that could lift the club.

If Cincinnati wins the World Series, Francona would tie Tony La Russa and others for three titles and move into the top‑10 all‑time wins list, potentially reaching 2,125 victories. His tenure has already seen him guide teams to 12 postseason trips, placing him fifth all‑time.
