Bears-Panthers Sets NFL Week 1 Scoring Record

Published September 13, 2026 · Updated September 13, 2026 · NBC Sports

The Chicago Bears' 59-37 road victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday became the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history.

The combined 96 points broke the previous Week 1 record of 88 points set by the Buccaneers and Saints in 2018. It was also the first time any NFL game ended with a 59-37 score. While impressive, it wasn't the most points the Bears have ever scored, as they had 61 points in regular season games during 1965 and 1980, and 73 in the 1940 NFL championship. bettingx.club
