“I am really pleased to sign for Nottinghamshire at an important time in the season. I can’t wait to arrive in England and test myself in county cricket,” Mukesh said in a statement issued by the club.
“I want to contribute as much as I can while I am here to help Nottinghamshire to success, and I am looking forward to working with the coaches and my new teammates,” he added.
Mukesh Kumar Eyes New County Challenge
The stint at Trent Bridge will be a new experience for Mukesh, as it will be the first time in his career that he has represented a domestic team outside Bengal.
The pacer said playing in England presents a fresh challenge and expressed his eagerness to adapt to new conditions.
“Coming to England is always a good challenge, and I am excited by the chance to play for a new team in new conditions,” Mukesh said.
“I will give everything while I am part of Nottinghamshire, and I hope together, we can be successful.”
Duleep Trophy Form Earns Praise
Mukesh arrives in England after an impressive campaign in the Duleep Trophy, where he emerged as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker.
He claimed 12 wickets at an outstanding average of 14.91 and played a key role in East Zone’s title triumph over South Zone in the final.
Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores welcomed the India pacer and highlighted his match readiness following his recent domestic commitments.
“We’re really excited to get Mukesh over at what is a crucial time of the season. He comes straight off the back of a really competitive game in the Duleep Trophy final, in which he was on the winning team and played a pivotal role in securing the win for East Zone,” Moores said.
Nottinghamshire Back India Pacer
Moores also backed Mukesh’s quality and said Nottinghamshire were fortunate to secure a bowler arriving in strong competitive form.
“Mukesh’s quality as a bowler is not in question, knowing how hard it is to compete to play in the Indian team,” he said.
“It’s fantastic for us to get a player who’s match-ready and in full competitive mode ahead of two big games for the club.”
Mukesh will now look to make an immediate impact for Nottinghamshire as the English County Championship season enters its final stage.
Afghanistan Vs India 2026 2nd T20I Prediction
AFG Vs IND Match Prediction: After a massive win in this first T20I of this three-match series, India are well and truly on the front foot and can wrap this series up as soon as this very match, as we see two of the best teams in Asia square off against one another.
The Afghanistan Cricket Team had a strong showing in the 2026 T20 World Cup, but did not make it past the first round. They followed it up by being thrashed by India in a one-off test match, and then an ODI series defeat to the men in Blue.
The Afghans have since whitewashed Ireland in a T20I series, the same team that whitewashed India in the same format around the same time. They will not play their first international cricket match in about a month.
As for the Indian Cricket Team, they became the first team to win back-to-back T20 World Cup titles earlier this year, while also becoming the first team to win the tournament thrice. Most recently, they lost the first game of this ongoing series.
Then came the IPL, where all the players of the Indian team played. The Sri Lankans then hosted Afghanistan for one Test match and three T20Is, winning them all comfortably. Then came the disastrous two T20Is against Ireland, both of which the Men in Blue lost, losing a match and then a series for the first time to the Irish.
A tour to India was next, where the Indians were thrashed 4-0 in a T20I series, then lost 2-1 in an ODI series. Then came a T20I series win over Zimbabwe, and a Test series victory over Sri Lanka right before this series. Now, they have won the first game of this ongoing series.

AFG Vs IND 2nd T20I 2026 Arun Jaitley Stadium Pitch Report
While historically a little sticky wicket, in recent years, the conditions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium have been highly conducive to batting. The pitches are flat, with almost no support to bowlers, coupled with short boundaries, making it a batter’s haven. There might be a little something for the pacers here early in the innings. Overall, based on the progress of this competition so far, the tracks are expected to be quite balanced and competitive. The Arun Jaitley is usually a smaller ground. The square boundaries are generally around 60-62m in length, while the straight ones extend out to 68m, possibly 65m or more.

PCB set for major shake-up; Aqib Javed, Wahab Riaz likely to be released
The Pakistan Cricket Board is set for a major shake-up, with chairman Mohsin Naqvi expected to take some tough calls in the coming days, including changes to the national selection committee and the release of former Test cricketer Aqib Javed from his duties as senior selector. Another former Pakistan Test player, Wahab Riaz, who has been working as a mentor with the national womens team since last year, is also likely to be released along with the coaching staff after the Asian Games in Japan.
"Even Mohsin Naqvi has now realized that some radical measures are required to end the losing streak and abrupt happenings in Pakistan cricket. So these changes are now on the cards," an internal source said. Aqib has been seen as the kingpin behind several major cricketing decisions taken by the PCB over the last two years, including the controversial decision to make sweeping changes to the Pakistan team and coaching staff during the England tour after the second Test.
The former Pakistan Test bowler has also been widely blamed for the turmoil in Pakistan cricket, which has witnessed frequent changes in coaching staff and captaincy in recent times. The source said the PCB's decision to bring about changes in selection and other cricketing matters was also prompted by white-ball head coach Mike Hesson's indication that he was willing to take charge of the Test team as well. He said the PCB was also negotiating with a few foreign coaches to take over as head coach of the women's team after the Asian Games.
"Naqvi will soon hold a high-level meeting with his aides and also take the governing board members into confidence before final decisions are made on the changes," he said. Pakistan drew its Test series in the West Indies 1-1 but were swept 3-0 in England, with the defeats coming by big margins, leading to criticism of the PCB's cricketing policies as well as the officials responsible for implementing them.
The source said Hesson was keen to take charge of the Test team but had also made it clear that he would need time to set things right in the red-ball format. He would accept the position only if he was given a confirmed timeframe and assured that there would be no interference in his decision-making.
Naqvi, also Pakistan's federal interior minister, was in Dubai on Sunday night for the Asia Cup women's final, where another controversy erupted after the Indian team did not receive the winners' trophy from him. It was a repeat of the controversy surrounding the 2025 men's Asia Cup final in Dubai, when the Indian team also did not collect the trophy from Naqvi.
