Cardiff: Jofra Archer led a much-improved England bowling display as India were dismissed for 233 in the second one-day international in Cardiff on Thursday.

India, the world's top-ranked ODI side, looked set for a score in excess of 300 when Virat Kohli (65) and Shreyas Iyer (66) were at the crease together.

But a revamped England attack used the short ball to good effect to seize back the initiative at Sophia Gardens.

India, who had been 178-3, lost their last seven wickets for 55 runs as they were bowled out with six overs remaining.

Fast bowler Archer took 3-47 from his 10 overs as England looked to level this three-match series following a six-wicket defeat in the first match at Edgbaston on Tuesday.

India captain Shubman Gill, fresh from his 80 in Birmingham, drove and square-cut Archer for two fours in successive deliveries after England skipper Harry Brook won the toss.

But he was out for 31 when his powerful drive off Gus Atkinson, recalled together with Saqib Mahmood to bolster England's pace attack, was well caught by Ben Duckett at cover.

Kohli has already retired from Test and T20 international cricket and this series could be the last time the legendary 37-year-old represents India in Britain.

He showed his class by driving Sam Curran down the ground for four to bring up a run-a-ball fifty as chants of "Kohli, Kohli, Kohli" echoed round the ground.

Iyer was dropped on 25 when he flicked Atkinson off his pads and Duckett, running round from deep square leg, floored a tough chance.

Soon afterwards, he drove leg-spinner Adil Rashid for a soaring straight six.

England, however, dismissed Kohli when a top edge off Archer flew to Rashid at third man.

Washington Sundar also fell to a short ball, miscuing a hook off Mahmood, before Archer struck with successive deliveries to reduce India to 193-7.

Axar Patel was caught behind off a attempted ramp and Shivam Dube drove a fuller-length delivery straight back to Archer.

Iyer's casual hook for six off Archer saw him to a 42-ball fifty.

But Iyer fell tamely, caught behind off Atkinson, who finished with 3-50 when he bowled Prasidh Krishna to end the innings.

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has played down the prospect of Salah moving to Turkey amid reports linking the forward with Besiktas.

Buruk said Salah had not been discussed internally at Galatasaray and predicted that the former Liverpool forward would choose another destination.

“I don’t know what Mohamed Salah will do,” Buruk said.

“He must have some very important suitors, but his name has never come up with us. I don’t think Turkey will be his preference.”

Buruk’s remarks followed several Turkish reports claiming that Salah had been offered to Besiktas following his departure from Liverpool.

Salah would reportedly consider joining the Turkish club and had requested an annual salary of around €15 million.

However, neither Besiktas nor Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas Issa, has confirmed negotiations or the reported financial terms.

The Egyptian forward had announced in March that he would leave after reaching an agreement with the club. He made his final appearance in a 1-1 draw against Brentford at Anfield on May 24.

The former Arab Contractors, Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina, and AS Roma forward ended his career at Merseyside with 257 goals and 120 assists from 442 appearances.

He left as the club’s third-highest scorer and helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and two League Cups.

Salah has yet to announce his next club despite reported interest from teams in Europe, Saudi Arabia, Major League Soccer, and Turkey.

The Egypt captain is, at the moment, free to negotiate directly with any club, but no prospective move has received official confirmation.

Atlanta: Lautaro Martinez scored a 92nd minute winner as Lionel Messi inspired World Cup holders Argentina to a stunning comeback to beat England 2-1 on Wednesday and set up a final with European champions Spain.

England had been on course to reach their first World Cup final since 1966 after Anthony Gordon fired them into the lead 10 minutes after half-time in the semi-final in front of 68,239 fans in Atlanta.

But the great rivalry between these nations has produced several memorable contests on the World Cup stage down the years and this will be remembered as the stuff of legends in Argentina as the South Americans denied England with two late sucker punches.

Messi set up Enzo Fernandez to fire in an 85th-minute equaliser and then, with extra time looming, crossed for substitute Lautaro Martinez to head in the winner in the second minute of stoppage time.

It was maybe not quite up there with Diego Maradona's legendary display in putting England to the sword in 1986, but the goals this time brought Argentina back from the dead and kept alive their hopes of winning back-to-back World Cups.

Fernandez was denied from range by Pickford, but moments later he equalised, controlling a Messi pass on the edge of the area and letting fly past the goalkeeper.

Argentina smelled blood, and Mac Allister again hit the post before England failed to clear and Lautaro Martinez headed in the winner from an exquisite Messi cross to spark chaotic scenes of celebration and leave England completely deflated.
