Doha, Qatar: As the largest sporting event in history reaches its conclusion, the FIFA World Cup 2026 closing ceremony, which will take place ahead of the final match at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, 19 July, will celebrate the 48 teams’ unforgettable journey across the three host countries and 16 Host Cities throughout the tournament.

This star-studded show will feature performances from Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and IShowSpeed, as well as a special appearance by Tom Cruise, bringing together some of the world’s biggest names in music and entertainment for an unforgettable celebration before kick-off.

Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award winner Jennifer Hudson will deliver a special rendition of the United States national anthem ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final.

One of the world’s most celebrated performers, Hudson’s powerful performance will set the stage for football’s biggest match and the most anticipated moment of the tournament.

Produced in creative partnership with Balich Wonder Studio, the closing ceremony will celebrate the passion, emotion and global spirit that have defined the 23rd FIFA World Cup: a game-changing event featuring 48 teams that has shattered records and inspired a new generation of girls and boys around the world to dream. More artists and special guests will be announced over the coming days.

Doha, Qatar: Whenever the wife of Spain right-back Pedro Porro asks their nearly one-year-old son how his father celebrates his goals, little ‘Pedrito’ plops down on the floor and raises his very small fist. Unfortunately, a small fever prevented Pedrito from being at Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final against France, with Porro’s mother staying behind to take care of the infant.

But that was not about to stop Porro from having a special father-son moment after he scored the second goal in La Roja’s 2-0 victory over Les Bleus. Imitating little Pedrito, Porro sat down on the pristine Dallas Stadium grass and raised his hand skyward.

“[My mother] didn’t come because my little one had a fever,” said Porro about the celebration. “It’s normal – it could be teething, growing pains, or any number of things. But I decided he should stay at the hotel. Everything’s fine, though. I gave him a little wave, and hopefully he’ll be feeling a bit better tomorrow.”

It was the highlight of a magical day for Porro, who just 24 hours earlier commented to assembled reporters that he hoped Tuesday would “be Lamine Yamal’s day”.

As it turns out, much of the final four encounter belonged to Porro himself, who scored his second goal at these global finals when he polished off a slick one-two combination with Dani Olmo.

His two goals puts him in rarefied air, with the Tottenham man equalling the legendary Fernando Hierro for most World Cup goals by a Spain defender with two.

“I’m very happy about that statistic, but I think the victory belongs to the team,” said Porro. “The victory belongs to the 26 of us, to the coaching staff, to everyone supporting us back home, to everyone here cheering us on. I’d like to dedicate it to all of them – it’s not easy for all the families who’ve come all the way here.” (FIFA)

كما ناقش أعضاء الجمعية العمومية الحساب الختامي للسنة المالية المنتهية، واعتمدوا مشروع الموازنة المقترحة للموسم المالي الجديد، بالإضافة إلى الاطلاع على تقرير مراقب الحسابات واتخاذ القرارات اللازمة بشأنه وفق اللوائح المعمول بها.
وفي ختام الاجتماع، تمت المصادقة على التوصيات والقرارات المتعلقة ببنود جدول الأعمال، وسط تأكيد من أعضاء الجمعية العمومية على دعمهم لمسيرة النادي وتطلعاته خلال الموسم المقبل، بما يعزز من حضوره الرياضي والإداري ويحقق المزيد من النجاحات في مختلف المنافسات والأنشطة.

Al Ahly have reportedly reached an agreement with Dinamo Zagreb to sign Algerian forward Monsef Bakrar in a deal worth €3 million.

According to Croatian reports, Dinamo Zagreb have completed the agreement for Bakrar’s move to the Cairo giants.

The Croatian champions will receive a fixed €3 million fee, while performance-related bonuses could increase the total value of the transfer to €4 million.

Dinamo have also secured a 10% sell-on clause, which would entitle them to a share of any future transfer fee received by Al Ahly.

However, Bakrar is not expected to leave Zagreb immediately. Dinamo negotiated for the 25-year-old to remain available for both legs of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying-round tie against Swiss champions Thun.

The first leg will take place in Switzerland on July 21, before Dinamo host the return fixture on July 28.

Dinamo had previously rejected two Al Ahly offers before negotiations entered their final stages. But the clubs seem to have reached an agreement, although neither club has issued an official statement.

Bakrar joined Dinamo from New York City FC in August 2025 and signed a multi-year contract with the Croatian club. He scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 29 Croatian league appearances during the 2025/26 season.

The Algeria international previously represented ES Setif and Istra 1961 before moving to Major League Soccer in 2023.

He made 70 appearances across all competitions for New York City, scoring 10 goals.
