Victor Hedman dressed for Sweden’s quarterfinal game against the United States but will not play due to an injury.
Team Sweden says Hedman suffered a lower-body injury in warm-ups and will be re-evaluated after the game.
The six-time Norris finalist has been a workhorse so far in the Olympics, with the fourth-highest average ice time among Swedish blueliners at 18:42 through the first three games. He also has a goal and an assist in the tournament.
If Sweden advances to play Canada in the semifinals and Hedman is unavailable to play, Rasmus Andersson is the extra defenceman who would draw back into the lineup.
