Add another international game to the list for the San Francisco 49ers in 2026, as they will host a regular-season game this upcoming season in Mexico City at Estadio Banorte. The opponent has yet to be announced. This might not be the only year the 49ers play in Mexico City, as there is a multi-year commitment through 2028 to play there.
So, along with a game in Melbourne, Australia, the 49ers will be well-traveled in 2026.
Since it is a home game, the 49ers could play the Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks, Eagles, Commanders, Broncos, Vikings, or Dolphins in Mexico City.
We should note that the 49ers are one of ten teams with marketing rights in Mexico, part of the NFL’s global markets program. The other teams are the Cardinals, Cowboys, Broncos, Texans, Chiefs, Raiders, Dolphins, Steelers, and Rams.
That might help us narrow down who the Niners will play. As for when, it makes sense for the game to take place later in the second half, since the first international game is reportedly set for Week 1.
