Where 49ers QB Brock Purdy ranks on PFF's top 101 players after injured season

Brock Purdy made the most of his 2025 NFL season despite a toe injury that sidelined him for eight games, helping the short-handed 49ers reach the NFC playoffs against all odds.

In the first 20 players released Monday on PFF’s annual top 101 list, the 49ers quarterback came in at No. 81 after posting a 69.4 completion percentage and throwing for 2,167 yards with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions across his nine regular-season starts.

“Purdy missed a significant portion of the season, but he was outstanding when he was on the field for the 49ers,” PFF wrote. “His 82.6 PFF passing grade ranked sixth among quarterbacks, while his 75.7 PFF rushing grade ranked eighth. He was especially effective when getting the ball out within 2.5 seconds. On those plays, Purdy earned an 87.7 PFF overall grade, which ranked fifth in the NFL, and his 118.6 passer rating ranked third.”

A nagging turf toe injury first popped up for Purdy in Week 1, and he missed the 49ers’ next two games. When he attempted what might have been a premature return in Week 4, Purdy aggravated the injury and then didn’t start again until Week 11.

Backup quarterback Mac Jones kept San Francisco in contention while Purdy was out, then the 49ers won six consecutive games upon the starter’s return before ultimately falling to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC divisional playoff round.

“I thought it was pretty good for me to sit back,” Purdy told “The Pat McAfee Show” at Super Bowl Radio Row earlier this month. “Obviously, I wanted to be out there to help my team win. But when I did come back, it was like the chip’s back on the shoulder, man.”

Purdy is the only 49ers player on the list so far, and the other NFL quarterbacks ranked below him are Los Angeles Chargers signal-caller Justin Herbert (No. 99) and Super Bowl LX champion Sam Darnold of the Seattle Seahawks (No. 93).

Next season, Purdy certainly will have his sights set on a higher ranking as he and the 49ers as a whole seek a much healthier campaign.
