Francesco Totti nearing Roma return: “We are talking”

Francesco Totti has confirmed that he is in active negotiations to return to Roma, potentially ending his long absence from the club’s management.

The legendary captain spoke to Sky Sport about the ongoing developments regarding his return to the Giallorossi. Totti was direct about the current state of affairs, stating – via Calciomercato:

“Me and Roma are talking and we are evaluating. We’ll see what can be done, but I won’t say anything more. At this moment I am a fan. Roma is my home even if I am not there, I am happy with the team’s path. There have been a few rumors in this period, we are talking about some details and we are deciding on what the best situation for everyone could be. We are talking about it, sooner or later I don’t know.”

Totti also addressed recent sightings of him with Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini, clearing up any speculation about a professional collaboration between the two. He said: “Was I close to Gasperini? I went out to dinner with Gasperini, we talked about more than just football.”

According to additional information provided by Calciomercato, while the exact nature of the role remains a subject of discussion, the path toward an agreement is becoming clearer. The plan involves a gradual integration, starting with Totti acting as an external consultant or brand ambassador before transitioning into a more operational role within the club’s technical area.

The report also highlights that the financial terms are being discussed, with Totti expected to earn a salary of approximately €1 million per season.
